This is the best prices we can find on MOPAR skids and tow hooks. Let us know if you find lower.

Were those at the dealer or somewhere else, cuz I need some basic skids for now... my J.I.M. fund is a little low right now.

I paid $28.00 for the tranny skid, and $49.00 for the t-case skid both at my dealership.

I believe if you get them from the dealer w/o any of those nut-zerts, you can save ~$20 a skid. I know there were part numbers floating around for one of the skids that didnt come with the nutzerts and was almost half price.

Hmmm, musta missed the boat on that one....what the H-E-double-hockey-sticks is a "nutzert?" Sounds like a candy bar.

Mmmmmmmmm, nuuutzerrrttt...

Do we NOT need those?

a nutzert is a little plastic thing that is used to hold the bolts to the frame. You can just drill the hole the rest of the way through the crossmember or frame rail and just use a nut instead of those plastic things. When you put the bolt through the nutzert, it expands and crushes it against hole, kinda like drywall inserts for hanging pictures.

I've heard of those plastic things not holding and could possibly drop a plate out on the trail if the skid gets hung up on something. My factory ones use those nutzert things, but whenever i get a chance to get my jeep up on a lift, i'm probably gonna take them all out and put some metal in there to hold up my skids. I'm sure someone else here can shed light on this subject.

Those prices sound about right. I bought mine for my 03 Sport from Pomoco Jeep in Hampton. It was $115 for the gas tank plate and $49 each for the suspension and TC plates. The TC skid came with the nutzerts.

Guyute is right. Those nutzert things on the TC skid can come out. It happened to me at Paragon in April of last year. The ones in the front crossmember backed out, but were still in there enough to keep the skid plate on. I left it like that through about July or August when I got some more nutzerts from Green Gifford prior to Camp Jeep. The nutzerts cost $3.15. Hope this helps.

I got the tranny skid for $28 also.

Part # 52128925AC

Let me tell ya, drilling holes in the cross memeber is a heck of a job, its not as easy as it sounds. That crap is thick. With my jeep on jack stands, i put the drill on my floor jack and used my foot to jack it up, and made a drill press. Worked great. Get back to me if you want to know the bolts i had to buy, Ill have to look it up.

Thanks for the info! I keep getting hungry when I read "nutzert" though. Might have to get an extra pack of them for the install...you know, in case I get hungry while I'm down there.

Those prices came from Nick at Kolak Performance and Offroad. He seems like a pretty cool guy. A ZJ-driving friend of mine pointed me to him. Keep in mind, those prices are before shipping is calculated.

Here are the part numbers as listed on Mopar.com. Anyone know what the front suspension skid is? It's the only place I've ever seen it listed.

Mopar.com:
82206122..Fuel Tank.............$115.00
82209026...Front Suspension...$49.00
82209455...Transfer Case.......$49.00
82210003...Transmission.........$49.00

JustForJeeps.com has the lower-priced skid listed with the part number mentioned before. Maybe the different part number is because it doesn't have nutzerts (shrug)????
52128925AC - Regular price: $35.77 Sale price: $32.19
Transmission Skid Plate, same as production. Fits Model Year 2005 with 4-Speed (42RLE) Transmission Only. Includes installation hardware (Part # 6506027AA 4 screws and Part # 6506644AA 2 rivets)

I guess the fact that Jeepjeepster has 52128925AC on his 04 Limited refutes the claim that it's for "Model Year 2005" only. Can anyone refute the claim that it's for "4-Speed (42RLE) Transmission Only"? I like $46, but I like $28 even better!

The front suspension skid is actually the engine skid. The tranny skid is for 05 and up, but there was a write-up a while back on how to retrofit it for an 04 (I have the instructions in Word format, PM me and I'll e-mail them to you). I got the three main skids (tranny skid wasn't out yet) for about $200 total. I got the best prices I could find from JParts.com, and then my dealer matched them so I didn't have to pay shipping (just brought the printout from their web site).
Right now, they have the engine, transfer and tranny listed at $41.65, and the gas tank at $97.75 If you can get the tranny at $28, then you're looking at all 4 skids for about $210. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

Good Luck!

52128925AC....this is the tranny skid I got. It came with the nutzerts, and only cost me $28 bucks. It's double-layer steel, recessed for the oil filter, and has a hole to access the drain plug on CRDs. It's the perfect solution to protect that oil filter that hangs down. And for less than $30, including the hardware, who can beat it??

One word of caution...even though my tranny skid DID come with the nutzerts and hardware, it did NOT come with the tool that is used to install the nutzerts, therefore I didn't know such thing existed.

When I bought my t-case skid I had to order the nutzert hardware separately, and they sent me the tool included. You use the tool to install the nutzert properly into the frame of your KJ first, and THEN you install the skid plate with the supplied bolts and torque them properly. Then they are solid and will NOT come off on the trail.

I didn't know this when I put on my tranny skid...and that's why my nutzerts on it came loose. I got new nutzerts and will use the new tool I found out about to install those properly next time..and then problem is solved.

Why would you all pay $50 for the skid when we have you the part number to buy it for $30?

Good call on the Jparts.com link. They're lower than Kolak.

Jparts.com
Liberty Skid Plate - Engine(2002-2006) $41.65 L82209026
Liberty Skid Plate - Transmission(2005-2006) $41.65 L82210003
Liberty Skid Plate-Fuel Tank(2002-2006) $97.75 L82206122
Liberty Skid Plate-Transfer Case(2004-2006) $41.65 L82209455

They don't list part #52128925AC as an option. Maybe they stopped carrying it?? Don't know. Only found that listed at JustForJeeps.com. Anyway, I like the idea of getting the dealership to match price. I'm printing out all the online prices and heading to the dealer as soon as I can.

LibertyCRD, that's excellent info! You don't have a part number for that little tool, do you? A picture? Or the official name that the guy at the parts counter might find in his outdated computer?

Does anyone have a 5xxxxxx.AC part number for the other skids? Or are the L8xxxxxxxx part numbers the only ones we have to go with for the Engine, Transfer-case, and Fuel-tank skids? I'll take ALL of them for $28/ea. if I can!!

This tool for inserting the nutzerts looks like a big bolt with a collar and a small sleeve on it. You put the nutzert into the hole and then screw this bolt into it, and it squeezes the nutzert and forces it to spread out and fill the hole so that it will not come out. Then when you install the skid plate with the mounting bolts they won't go anywhere. Wish I had known about that tool before I did my first plate.

Anyway I will look for a part number, but my local dealer found it in their parts computer without me even knowing it existed...so your dealer should be able to find it too.

What I want to know is why they are selling the same skid plate under two different part numbers and two differnet prices??? I just walked in, said I need a transmission skid plate for my Jeep, and 3 days later it arrived for $28. That's all I know. Got the part number off of the package once it arrived.

If you can get Hall to match the price on the Transfer Case Skid, tell em I want one.
