Does anyone know the chain width and No of links for the Transfer Case NP242J(select -trac) full time case used on the 2004 Liberty Limited. I am about to strip down the case on mine because the oil I drained was full of brass chips. I have bought an overhaul kit and an oil pump from a US company but they don't seem to know the details for the chain for some reason, and I wanted to have these bits on hand before I removed the case. Has only done about 50k miles and is not making any noises--works OK in all ranges but I was not happy with the rubbish that drained out. Thanks Barry |

Not sure if the 242 has the same chain as the 231....but if you want a cheap replacement I've got spares. Yikes...how did it lose oil, and what are the chips from, the shift forks??? Hope everything went well!! If the case looks bad, at least you can throw a case in from another jeep for cheap! |
