what all comes with it? my box was pretty screwed up. all i got was the skid, a bolt and and sticker. no instructions, nothing else.

are there brackets that line up with the rear mounting holes or something?

my skid isnt lining up with anything in the rear when you line the front holes up

Did you get the correct year skidplate. I am not sure if Rusty's makes a skid plate for the '04 and '05 models yet. He didn't 8 months ago.

and i am finding out the hard way that he still doesnt

the page doesnt say anything about different model years, but i identified my libby as an 04 in the vehicle info (which is required).

rusty's kj trans and engine skid

here is the plate they show for the libby
Image

the plate i received looks a little different than the pics i have seen for the older models. the bend where the plate goes up to meet the rear cross member (where the logo is cut into it) isnt 90 degrees like in the pics i have seen, instead it is at more like 60 ot 70 degrees (more gradual but that section is a little longer).

i guess i may be the guinea pig. problems i am running into with the skid.

1.when the front is installed, the plate it too short to reach the rear crossmember (and vice versa)

2.if the rear is installed 1st, only the outer 2 bolt holes line up (the inner 2 do not) and of course, it will not reach the front holes

3.if the rear is installed 1st, the plate covers a hole used to mount the factory t-c skid

4.the plate doesnt fit flat on the rear cross member even if the rear is bolted up 1st

lucky me...rustys is closed until monday

i didnt realize how much ground clearance is lost with this thing...dissappointing to say the least and i cant quite figure out the need for the way it drops down then slants up to meet the cross member. there would be plenty of clearance between the plate and the stuff ti is protecting even if the plate was completely flat

Howdy folks :D

I've got an '03 Renegade w/limited knowledge of applying proper armor (skids and such) to make it tougher off road. I know the Renegade packages came w/a couple skids, but I was wondering was else I need to get on and what brands people recommend? :?:

Thanks,

J.

Hey Spike,

How is that lift working w/those 245s? I have an '03 Renny that I want a 2.5 on going to the 245s. Do those still hold onto the stock rims? Thanks.

I am usning the stock wheels and there is absolutely no rubbing. I pounded down the pinch weld and heat gunned the fog light door.

I can stay in overdrive 90% of the time on the highway and still get 19mpg so I would say that they are the perfect size for any mildly lifted KJ.

All J Products makes the strongest tranny skid out there.

They also make it for all year models of KJ including the CRD. Please call themn to get the right one for you KJ. They are by far the best KJ Tranny skid on the market today.
