For those who a rock ring (differential skid), which type do you have and does it provide good protection.

Looking at some of the pictures, it seems that there are some with lots of open space that might still allow damage to the cover on the front differential.

The rear is less of a concern, but seems like a full enclosed or half cover would be better for the front. :?

Thoughts or feekback appreciated

Just get the mopar front skid plate. It will cover the entire front diff.

Actually, you should think more about the rear diff than the front (if you get a skid - best choice)

I have Rocky Road's Diff guard. I like it and it seems to protect more:

I have it installed, but haven't had a chance to get a pic of it installed yet. I'll get a pic when I install my Frankenlift this weekend.

Thanks for the link. Somehow I missed this one.

Still seems like a lot of opinions on the best guard. Anyone taken any damage with any version? I like the Poison Spider one. I wish it had more protection on the sides at the bottom. Seems a waste to buy one, strip the powder coat and them weld on it and then paint or powder coat it again.

Maybe I should buy the full cover from Crane.

A lot of folks miss one of the main reasons for the rock rings...It does more to keep the diff cover from peeling off than hitting it. be sure you buy one that has a very thick flange. if you use a guard that has a thin flange...you are still going to peel a cover off. Hope that helps. Later...Clint

Actually, you should be more worried with the front than the rear. Most of us don't drive down the trails backwards.

I have the factory skids so I'm coverd for the front. :D

It looks like my biggest concern will be catchin the rear cover on a rock and ripping it off. With that in mind I am leaning toward the Poison Spyder or the one from RRO.

Pros or Cons on these?

I like my RRO rig. The flange is quite thick. 3/8" IIRC.
