anyone been able to get the axle out of the hub without popping the lower ball joint? i have undone the top ball joint, tie rod end, clevis, and brake caliper, really dont want to mess with the lower ball joint. trying to decide if there is a trick or if it has to be done. any input would be appreciated.

Thanks
Robert

Just remove the lower makes it was easier in the long run
Removing it is no harder than removing the upper one

Thanks, not really what i wanted to hear but it sure as hell will save me some struggling, i gave up on it after about 15 min of trying to get it out, i would be done if i spent that 15 min seperating the lower. so goes the story of life

Just need to get every thing loose and hanging then hit the side of the lower a arm hard with a big hammer and it will pop right out.

The 15 minutes you spent trying you could of had the LBJ off and the CV out :ROTFL:
try again tomorrow :pepper:

i changed both CV's and the intermediate shaft thursday in 50 mins. start to finish (including jacking up.. ect.)

for the passenger i unbolted the bottom bolt of the sway bar, took off the axle nut, took off the lower ball joint, then took off the 2 bolts holding in the clevis fork and removed the clevis fork. NOW.. if you turn the wheel to the right you can get the axle/intermediate shaft out without taking off the caliper/upper ball joint/knuckle. Just watch you dont stress the brake lines. an extra pair of hands helps with that part. You just pick up on the knuckle/brake/upper A arm assembly and slide the axle out... then pull it out of the Diff.

on that note.. the JBA shaved axles are awesome :JEEPIN:
