When I push on the accelerator, driving and sitting still, I hear a whining noise up front. Would anyone have a clue what this could be? |

This might sound like a stupid question, but what sort of whining, and does it seem to come from one side or the other? Does it get louder/higher pitched as the revs go up? Can it be heard from outside the vehicle (I appreciate that when standing still you'll need to get someone to stand and listen) - the reason I ask this is in case its something under the dash - maybe unlikely but you never know. The only thing that creeps into my mind, is the possibility of a bearing in one of the pulleys or the turbo needs greasing, or the serpentine belt is slipping on the pulleys. My mechanical knowledge is not great - sorry. On a more facetious note - have any cats or small pets gone missing in your neighbourhood lately? |

I just fixed a Camry that had a high pitched whine. Thought it was the timing belt but it turned out it was just the alt. belt which had slipped a little. Could it be something like that? Maybe something got knocked lose when you got hit |

Someone at church this past Sunday said something about the rear driveshaft and u-joints, considering I was hit in the rear of the KJ. They said something in that could have been messed up. I was thinking timing belt as well. Alternator is fine, I guess. |
