Hi guys,

So the jeep I just bought won't go into 4x4. I knew this when I bought it as it was something I discovered on the test drive.

Now, the handle moves as if there is zero tension from what I'm guessing would be a cable. I am hoping that this will be a simple fix but before I dug around under and in my Jeep I thought I'd ask on here.

Thanks!

My guess is the linkage, happened to me once when I came down on a rock except mine was stuck in 4lo. There is just a small bushing holding it on and somehow mine came off. I just used a pin clip thing to reconnect it and keep it from coming back off.

I had the same problem. All you have to do is slide the little bushing at the end of the linkage cable back onto the selector pin and you're good to go. The pin is on the drivers side if the transfer case. My bushing was badly worn and had to be replaced after it kept popping off- it cost about $25 for a piece of rubber the size of a thimble if I recall correctly
