I know there has been a lot of talk about needing stiffer springs for the added weight of the CRD, but it looks like the Rockfather II may actually work pretty well. If this has been discussed elsewhere and I just missed it please ignore. Otherwise, check out the second to last post by WineGirl... http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=380 |

From my understanding there is only 1 lift out that can handle the weight from the diesel engine. That lift is the Daystar 2.5 inch suspension lift. I just got mine on today and love it! It's sitting on BFG AT TO 255/75/16's. |

In theory, any spacer lift like the Daystar should be able to stand up to the weight because they retain the stock springs. I just thought it was cool that there's a spring lift that seems to work! From the pics there's no problems with the Rockfather II. It looks to sit perfectly level - unlike the other spring lifts I've seen on CRDs. I'd guess this is the first CRD with that particular lift. |

Is that a typo on the tire size? Should it be 255/70/16? 255/75/16 would be an intresting size, right inbetween 245/75/16 and 265/75/16. |

Sorry, you are right on Eddo. I typed that after a L-O-N-G day of installing that thing and a few beers. |

The diesel engine only weighs 150 lbs. more than the 3.7L V6. So if the spring lifts on the market right now won't work, then to me there seems to be something seriously wrong. I've been told, however, to go with the Daystar spacer lift. Seems everyone likes it. |

I fitted the daytar lift to my CRD (2002 UK spec) and hated the ride. The front struts seemed to be to weak to damp the springs under the extra pressure. When braking the front end dipped and then bounced to a stop. It almost made me feel sea sick (and I don't even sea sick on a boat I put Rancho RSX shocks on the rear and loved the rear set up. Anyway, that's my experience. Maybe the North American spec CRD is more suited to the lift? Ian |

Any lift like the Daystar will need longer shocks. Yes, you can leave the stock shocks, but ride will be pretty harsh (sounds familiar, kj lad ?). So if you decide to go with Daystar, go for longer shocks as well. I put in some Ranchos RSX and the setting is quite comfortable and quiet. Just as the stock suspension. |

The problems I had were at the front. The rear with ranchos was great. Maybe an upgrade (heavier duty or longer) for the front strut/shock would've helped? Anyway, mines stock now and the ride is back to how I liked it........ Hope you guys have enjoy your lifts Ian |

I ordered the Daystar 2.5" Spacer lift for my CRD today. I have my fingers crossed that all works well. I am going with the the stock shocks at least untill I find out they don't work. It sounds like ride quality may be one of the things to watch out for. I am having it installed. Sounds like a lot of work for a novice. |

| Post subject: | Re: Lifting the CRD |
So I just bought a crd last week and the guy I got it from can't give me a straight answer on the type of lift it has. I know I have the Rancho 9000 adjustable ride shocks and some sort of lift but i just don't know what kind. In the rear I have the airbags so I can raise it up or lower it a little, but I'm not sure about the front. The reason I posted the question here is that I got some BFG mud terrain km's from a buddy of mine and we popped them on. They fit. Or rather they go on. When I turn as far as I can, left or right, they rub just a little. My question is do I have a spacer kit on here already? Up top kind of looks like one, but I'm not sure. If it is, could I remove it and do the 2.5" daystar that bottom mounts? If the top is a spacer, can I just add the bottom spacer? The top can only be about 1"-1.25", so if I can swap it for a 2.5", I think I would have the clearance to fit the tires easily. On a side note I am going to be replacing the upc's with al a arms soon. photo 1 by denvergrows, on Flickr ![]() photo 3 by denvergrows, on Flickr ![]() photo 2 by denvergrows, on Flickr ![]() photo 4 by denvergrows, on Flickr ![]() photo 5 by denvergrows, on Flickr |

Go old man emu or Frankenlift the rock father kits are crap I have seen many of people put them on gassers and CRDs. They seem to work great the first year of thier life on a jeep but start to sag shortly after and with armor additions they will be back to stock height very shortly. And the daystars are the same way the shocks and coils stock on most jeeps are well over there intended life span ussually after these are added. So adding a top spacer ussually just brings you back to stock height after settling. So buy a good quality suspension system that will out last the stock set up and save some money in the long run. |

And Denver what does the tag on your coil say on it? Because your shocks look like old man emu colors? |
