So driving to work today it was a lot warmer than it's usually been, so I decided to just use the air and keep my windows closed. Stupidly had it at 4 because it was just so freaking hot. Upon pulling in to work, which is roughly 15-18 miles away of mostly stop lights, I noticed my temp gauge was about 3/4 the way to H. Quickly shut it off and checked my engine bay for anything suspicious. T my knowledge I have no leaks and tonight before I started it up I filled it up with some antifreeze, to the cold fill line. Rode fine all the way home temp gauge never moved. I did have the air on 2 on the way home...

Any help what this could be?

Also has anyone figured out the issue to a hot no start?? I've noticed this happening lately as well.

I am savvy with working on vehicles but currently have no tools because I've moved out of state, and have no space or a garage for that matter. Any help is appreciated

2006 kj sport 106k clean carfax, with plenty of service records so I know it's been taken care of

It could be that the fan isn't turning on at the right time to cool down your radiator. When driving at speed this wouldn't be a problem, but when idling at traffic lights it would be. Could it be the thermostat or something with the fan clutch? I'm not sure how the radiator fans work in a KJ.

Your profile picture shows your jeep muddy, if you play in the mud it may be time to pop the electric fan out pop the outer grille shell off (So you can run a hose right against the rad/condenser units) and flush the mud out it can look clean from the outside but still be more than 25% blocked up. Make sure your fan is working as well with the temperature up that far it should have been just choochin' away trying to expel the heat, if it still does it after all those things work change the Thermostat and fluid out in it depending on Mileage it may be time to do those things anyways.

My picture with us was literally one time, it's never been off pavement since. Can someone give me a play by play how to check to see if the thermostat is in fact working correctly? Or can I use a code reader, I currently have no cel.s though so I didn't think it was a sensor
