Hi all, any idea's on this one ... got about a mile in the KJ this morning from cold, then got a red light flashing at me (only way I can describe the symbol, is it looks like a streak of lightening in brackets! if that makes sense to anyone) .. flashed for a while, though I was in a place I couldnt pull over, then it started stuttering like it was gonna cut out!!, the engine management light flashed breifly, I managed to limp on to a layby, by which time it had sorted itself out again, and ran perfectly from then on :? ????????

I got this text from the Jeep Liberty (KK) iPhone reference app. I have a gas engine, but I'm betting it might be the same issue with your CRD (lightning bolt in brackets light):

Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Warning Light

This light monitors the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system. The light should come on as a bulb check when the ignition switch is first turned ON and remain on momentarily when the engine is started. If the light does not come on during starting, have the system checked by an authorized dealer.

What does it mean?
This light indicates a problem with the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system.

How is my vehicle affected?
If the light is flashing when the engine is running, immediate service is required and you may experience reduced performance, an elevated/rough idle or engine stall and your vehicle may require towing.

What should I do?
Cycle the ignition key when the vehicle has completely stopped and the shift lever is placed in the PARK position. The light should turn off. If the light remains lit with the engine running, your vehicle will usually be drivable, however, see an authorized dealer for service as soon as possible.

Thanks for your reply

Does sound like we're on the same page here with that warning symbol ... I guess the fact that it then continued normally may mean it could happen again anytime :?
