ImageI would like to see some pictures of some kj's with 285's. I have 2.5 rustys lift, no front bumper, and pinch welds hammered. I am thinking that it is possible to run them, but wanted to make sure before I order them. And yes I know a lot of you may say it won't fit, but if someone else is running them let me see a pic!

OK I won't say it :ROTFL:
BUT
you will need a decent lift, higher and better than what you have and cut a lot
which means cutting into the substruture of the KJ
This is with my old 3.5 inch lift on Larrys( Wildmans) and after cutting a lot out
Plus what are you going to do about regearing, you can't use overdrive with 265-75s and 3.73s His is a dog with the 285s

Hers mine with 265-75s and 4.25 inches of REAL lift not imagined lift
and No I still would not run 285s

I would think if you ran spacers and, yes a better quality lift, it would be just fine. Right now I believe I'm at 22-23 hub to flare, have to remeasure it again since it was pouring down rain when ever I got it home from the shop. BUT I think I will just stay with 265's for the better mpg

Well not to worried about 285, this is my family vehicle, I'm going to build a tj this summer for my offroard needs. Not saying that the liberty is not capable, but i need it to be my DD. But thanks for some sarcastic advice ;)

Not scarcastic at all or not trying to be that way
Its just I've been on here for a long time, have seen what works good and what doesn't . Just like the Rustys lift they give little lift and not for long as they sag overnight almost
So that is an issue
Gearing I've heard a lot of people say Oh I can run that size with stock gearing, they finally regear and come back saying they should of done it a long time ago
Mines my DD, my only vehicle with over 169,000 miles with 149,000 lifted so little experience plus the others I have lifted
So just trying to save you some greif later on down the road is all
If it was your trail rig then cut away , DD I wouldn't

^Thank you for your time
Rev. Mudd

Well thanks, I have read a lot about rustys lift, quite honestly I would not have purchased it after reading reviews, but nevertheless it came on the jeep when I bought it. But I will, in the future, upgrade it when it sags back to stock :( but I have to say I love my mpg compared to my 10mpg with my old tj :D

Oh and as far as gearing I did do 4.88 in my tj and it did do the world of difference, but* it is very expensive. Sometime down the line it may be a possibility

Well get used to 10mpg's again or worse, that what you'll be getting with the KJ trying to run 33" tires with stock gears.

Keep the lift you have and go 245/75's,much more DD friendly. But like Tom I don't know anything about a KJ :ROTFL:

Not exactly............. not with the D30A in the front........you have the choices of 3.54, 3.73, 4.10....... That's it

you could get a JeepinbyAl steel front - but that's ~$1600 for the housing and then you add components.
