I'm not sure what this line is...can someone help?

It sits on top of the rear axle - the rubber line goes straight up from there to a clip near the top of the fuel tank (it has rotted off and is disconnected from in this picture):

it runs straight up to nowhere? I'm bending it down in this picture. this is looking from under the jeep to the top of the fuel tank:

the end of the line is plugged with this:

what's its purpose? it's also cracked and rotted on the other end.

thanks

It's pretty important that you replace that before any water gets in the diff, which can cause a failure. I just did it on my KK. Get some 5/16" low pressure fuel line from your local auto parts shop and your good to go. If you ever wheel it I'd get about 5-6' for the rear axle, if you stay on road you should be ok with 3'. Keep that top part and reuse it in the new hose.
