Is anyone running Old Man Emu rear springs with Airlift air bags?

I'm looking for a part # with the OME's

After going back and forth with Air Lift Company the part number we want for OME rear springs on a KJ is 60844. This is aa AirLift 1000 kit(2 bags and plastic airline, fittings and hardware. about 80 bucks. Minimum recommended pressure is 5 pounds but it doesn't look like to much grief to take them out and put it back in when you need them. I've ran across discussions about how it would decrease articulation. I currently am running medium OME's and I think the ride is perfect. A pair of OME springs HD's would be not much more money but the adjustability of an airbag sounds great to me. I just order the kit and I'll go through installation and road test for load and no load. :D

I would like to know how these are with a lift. I am considering it myself.

Received the 60844 kit today. 87 bucks from Amazon. Measured the bag and it is 7 1/2 inch tall. There is 2 schrader type fill valves and is called a Drag Bag kit. There is a 60744 that has the same dimensions but as a w.a.g. it probably has one fill valve. I've been researching routing of the air lines but haven't had any luck yet. I think ideally the airline should go out the top spring seat but I can't tell if that'll work until I tear it apart. The other choice of going out the bottom spring seat seems you would be asking for the airline to get ripped off on the trail.

It took about 2 1/2- 3 hours for the whole install. I down loaded the instruction sheet for the Liberty and used it and the instructions that came with the 60844 kit. everything worked perfectly.
The hole for the bump stop extention was enlarged to 3/4 inch as per instructions. The OE bump stop was removed. The air bag acts as the bump stop.

I used a burr mounted in a die grinder to enlarge the hole.

I routed both lines to the diff vent hose and along the left side of the gastank to where the license plate use to be. Theres a little hole in the lower spring perch tht the line fits through perfectly.

All in all it was a breeze to install. Other than the it's close to a 100 degrees today!

Sorry, the last picture of my Liberty had about 20 psi. I rechecked the pressure with a low pressure guage and it was way off. With 5 psi(minimum) it looks the same as no airbag.

with 5 psi my Liberty handles better around corners, straight line seems the same, speed bumps feel no different, ride feels no different. 5 psi i can deform the bag with my finger. 20 psi it feels hard as a rock. The vehicle rises visibly when adding air. 5 psi minimum, 35 psi maximum. So far I'm glad I put them in. :D :D :pepper:

No problems. Stock Liberty's use a 60777 kit which are 4 1/2" tall . I used a 60844 which lists for 1967-1972 Skylark/Gran Sport
1967-1972 Chevelle/Malibu/Monte Carlo 1984-1988 Monte Carlo SS 1967-1972 Cutlass, which is about 7 1/2 inches tall..

Thanks for the numbers. I am not planning on lifting until after I get a camper and a TDI for a DD.

You're planning an engine swap? Very cool!

No motor swap usually when someone says TDI and Volkswagen they refer to TDI jettas or TDI Bugs.

Great thread! Air bags are on my list and have been on my list for a few years. I want them for towing and to use as bumpstops. Over the years there has been a few other forum members who have done this modification. I have all those threads bookmarked. I will eventually compare and make a decision on brand, type, etc.

I just added a swinging double deck double gerry can rack and with a load I figured the headlights would be blinding everybody. On top of that I'm adding a pair of Hella e-code headlights with shnazzy h-4's. I figured I better worry about leveling for that reason alone.
