I found my birthday present......I think I am going with the Dynamax exhaust as it is a complete catback system: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/perfo ... &partid=83

just my 2 cents but......if you wanna save some money.....buying a complete system IMO is kinda pointless. Your jeep's got 2.5" piping allready.....swapping just your muffler would do the same as buying a full cat-back system (that is 2.5") But you'd save about $200. Good luck, I hope you like whatever you decide, the exhaust on the Libbies sound great.

What FL Renny said, plus I would like to add that you can just replace the Muffler and/or the cat. Our exhaust is already mandrel bent and is really a waste of money to buy new pipe.

I would only replace the pipe if you wanted to go to dual tail pipes otherwise I would stay with the stock pipe and just install the muffler. I have had Dynomax mufflers in the past an really liked them. I think that I may put one on my CRD.

When does the piping turn into 2.5" on the other model year KJs (non '03), Mine is 2" from the headers to the pre-cat, then 2.25" to the cat, then 2.5" to the muffler, where it's bumped back down to 2.25" then back up to 2.5" after the muffler and on the rest of the way...(which makes some muffler guy think that i need a 2.25" inlet/outlet muffler, but you guys have been using 2.5" correct???)

Thanks

Adding a cat back system has advantages. My magna flow kit claims a 18 hp gain and 22 ft-lbs of torque. It sounds good too.

Thats b/c it came with a new muffler.

SavageSS27, get a freaken 2.5in muffler!

My 2004 libby only has 2 cats. Its 2in from the manifolds through the cats all the way to where they join together than its 2.5 to the muffler where it takes it down to 2.25 then its 2.5 all the way out.

The only reason I would like to get a cat back is so I do not have to cut-up the stock muffler. Maybe someday I would like to put it back on when my engine blows and the dealer may try and blame it on the muffler? Dealers suck like that.

Just go to a good muffler shop and have them install a new muffler. It does come down to 2.25 right before the inlet but have the shop cut ahead of that where it is 2.5 and add a section from behind the new muffler to where it goes to 2.5 again and you are set. Maybe 100 max. Go to a local muffler shop instead of the name brand shops , more resonable prices, better service. The claims on the complete system are from the muffler alone piping is the same. As for duals unless you just want the BLING factor of duals they do not make any more horsepower.
No use spending good hard earned money for something that you do not really need. At least that is my thoughts.

Flowmaster and magnaflow are used alot on here. Borla is another good one.

You can buy just the Dynomax muffler without the pipe, that kit looks like it comes with the Dynomax Ultra Flow SS muffler. I you want to have a muffler shop install Dynomax has the Ultra Flow Welded, Car-X uses Dynomax mufflers. I had the Dynomax Ultra flow Welded on my last truck and will probbably have one put on my CRD.
