I discovered the thread for retrieving fault codes by cycling the key. Is there a way to tell if any are active or stored? P0526 was flashing.

I can't find a P0526 code anywhere.

You sure it wasn't a 562 code (low battery voltage)? Or a P0524 (low oil pressure)?

Want to help but the code doesn't show up in any list I'm looking at...

Bob

Thanks TwoBobskg. I am sure it is P0526. It is in this thread: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=11387&p=110612&hilit=p0526#p110612 but only with a description of fan speed circuit malfunction. I wasn't able to find it in the service manual.

P0526 Description
The powertrain control module (PCM) uses the cooling fan speed signal in order to determine the actual fan speed in relation to the desired fan speed. The PCM uses the cooling fan speed signal in order to reduce the cooling fan noise and in order to maintain the powertrain cooling requirements. The PCM supplies power and ground to the clutch hall effect sensor of the cooling fan clutch. The hall effect sensor returns a signal pulse through the speed signal circuit in response to the reluctor track, which is located inside the fan clutch. If during operation, the PCM detects a loss of the cooling fan speed signal, DTC P0526 will set.

Possible causes :furious:
- Cooling fan harness and connector
- Faulty cooling fan

Thanks guys! How do you tell the difference between active and stored codes?

In most cases................

Active/current codes---MIL on

Stored/history codes---MIL off

But you can have one(or more) current(active) codes and one(or more) history(stored) codes at the same time and you need a actual scanner to determine which is which with multiple codes. Then you got pending codes also.
