i just installed a corbeau gts II for a drivers seat, now im doing the passenger side. the issue is the weight sensor for the airbag in the passenger seat, from the looks of the corbeau seats the onle way to install the stock sensor into the corbeau seat would be to tear the entire seat bottom apart beyond repair. has anyone on here done a similar swap? is there another way to mount the sensor on the aftermarket seat? is there any type of circuit i could wire up to replace the sensor and still be safe?

I am sure with enough time and a little electrical know how you could trick the sensor into always being on. That way the air bag will deplay wether anyone is there on not. Or you could have a nice upholstery show install it in the new seat for you the only issue is it will have to be recalibrated afterwards I think.

but does the weight of the occupant effect the force with which the airbag deploys? or is it a simple go/no-go system? if its just an on/off as far as the airbag is concerned ill put a resistor in place of the sensor, but if it effects how much force the bag deploys with i dont want to do something that would endanger any passenger in the front seat

I cannot answer that for you I would suspect a simple on and off switch. But because of the need to have it recalibrated under certain circumstances suggest otherwise. I would get a hold of a dealer and find out for sure.

should be go - nogo

if the airbag goes off with a lightweight person there - it could be fatal
likewise if it doesn't go off properly with a full size person.

best to get the sensor to work
(some folks have disassembled seats and reassembled them with the sensor)
