I am close to ordering up a OME Lift Kit as well as a top plate to level it out for my '05. I would at least temporarily like to run the stock Renegade wheels but have a few questions. I am new to this board but have scoured it for info didn't see much on this tire size. I would like to run the 70's vs. 75's everyone seems to run here as I may go to an 8" rim in the future and like the extra width without getting too tall. That said there doesn't seem to be any options with correct back spacing in aluminum. I don't want to get too far away from the 235's that are on it now. My questions are these

Can I get away with this size w/o pounding the pinch weld or trimming?

If not would 245/70's be the best option? Only 1 size up from current and worried it wouldn't look right.

Anyone running this combo wheel and tire size and if so what are your mods and pics?

The Jeep will not see any hard core action, just local trails, snow play etc.....Thanks in advance, so many choices.

I ran 245/70 16 with no rubbing and no pounding or trimming with stock rims and 1.25 spacers. I don't run MTs or even AT, just highway tread. The most offroading I do is the beach. I wanna do 265/70 16. I think those would look best but you gotta pound.

Thanks, so what lift are you running and were the spacers needed for function or just asthetics?

I'm running a ironman lift with bilstein shocks no extras as far as the lift goes. The wheel "spacers" helped with looks and make it feel more stable at speed.

"Spacers" are ok as long as you use red thread locker and tourqe them to spec and check them often. Which I do every oil change. My boss has "spacers" on this Porsche that came factory so good enough for me. Plus I got mine for free!!!

running that tire size here, only rubs on tight turns with the suspension flexing, it is just the plastic fender liner, it is wearing out of the way.
otherwise it is great
we have the 3.73 gears in ours and it is pretty good with that size

Running the 255/70-16 size on mine. OME 927/948 springs with Bilstein shocks, one extra rear isolator, 2 conduit nuts in the front with a JBA 1/4" top plate. Slight rubbing at full lock on the fog light door and sway bar. Pounded the pinch welds when I lifted so don't know if it would have rubbed. I'm gonna regear to 4.10's but mainly cuz I tow a 17' bass boat.

yup oregon. i think that was somewhere along the alsea HWY between philomath and waldport. something like that. the clearance is hard to tell with it parked like that, i will try to take more pictures to post, i think i need to boost the front end again because the springs are slowly sagging.

Thanks again. I was going to guess Lane County, I live in Eugene......So one more question, did you have to pound the pinch welds?

nope i have not had to mess with the pinch weld at the back of the front fender, the tires rubbed there a little, and they rub the back of the fog light bulb access doors, and the inner plastic too, but as the tires are wearing down that is less of a problem. they are highway tires though so a more aggressive AT or MT might be different.

we are in Lebanon
