.... Time to do the happy dance!!!! :pepper:  :pepper:  :pepper:

Changing out to 4.10's with a Detroit Locker out back this month, and wondering about
gear oil.

I've been using Royal Purple in the engine, and was considering going the same route in the axles.

Any pluses or minuses with going synthetic??

Thoughts....

Talked to the installer, and have everything set for June 20th.  :pepper: :pepper:   :pepper: :pepper:

He also recommended sticking with standard rather than synthetic.
I'll go with an experts opinion every time.

Just have to make sure I put 500+ miles on it prior to July 3rd, so I can do the fluid change before
my Michigan vacation #2. :JEEPIN: :JEEPIN: :JEEPIN: :JEEPIN:

Your standard 85w-140 dino gear oil works best and you can buy enough for the rear diff for the cost of 1qt of synthetic gear oil.

Congrats... right now I should be doing the same thing (regearing) but now stuck if I should lock the rear while I'm regearing. What made to decide on the detroit? I might just add a lsd and wait till Im back on the main land for a locker.

The price difference between a Detroit Locker and a TrueTrac was insignificant, so I went Locker.
Would have preferred something like an ARB, but by the time you add in the onboard compressor, and
all the other little geegaws, it's close to $1300 for an ARB.

Also, I've driven other vehicles with a Detroit Locker, so I'm familiar with the on road characteristics.

Everything is now under one roof!! :pepper:  :pepper:  :pepper:

Just picked up the 4.10 geared center section that was delivered from PA.
All the parts are now sitting in the garage, waiting patiently for June 20th to roll around.

The next 12 days are gonna go by so s-l-o-w..... :ALONE:
