Guys,

I know the tongue weight for the stock trailer hitch is 750lbs but I was wondering what you guys thought would be the safe limit for a motorcycle hitch carrier on a 2007 lib with ome's mediums? I want carry a dirt bike that is around 360 lbs max. It would probably be even safer with heavy duty's and thought about going that route but I don't have any bumpers or other weight being carried during normal driving and worry about the hds lifting to much and requiring als upper arms/other issue. I will want the ability to carry on long trips, so I really need to be safe. What do you guys think?

Oh yeah. I live in a townhouse with no garage, so the common sense idea of buying a small trailer is out.

Medium duty coils should be fine. I regularly hang my dirtbike off the back of mine(which has rear medium duty coils, I don't think they make HD rears?) with one of those hitch carriers. I also did it while I was at stock height, which I believe the OEM coils are not rated as high as the medium duty OME coils. You'll be fine, get out there and enjoy riding. 8)

X2

You can get HD OME springs for the front (927's) or the 790's if you have a diesel or are planning on adding a heavy front bumper like an ARB. You should be fine with that carrier; I regularly tow a bass boat that has a heavy galvanized trailer and the rear barely moves when I hang the trailer on the hitch. I'm running the OME 948 MD springs.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to double check. Scares me having a 6k bike flapping in the wind but it will be easy to transport. I jumped on the hitch (I'm 220lbs) and it barely moved the back end.
