Post subject:  KJ starting to leak oil.........

Hi Folks,

My 2002 KJ 2.5 CRD has started to leak oil at 115,000 miles - I noticed some staining on the drive, so crawled under to take a peek and it seems to be gathering on the flange between the gearbox and engine so wiped it off and left the car standing for a week to see if it gathered there or at the front of the engine and was being blown back to this point - little droplets started to collect under the gearbox/engine flange.

Is there a common problem with the 2.5 CRD e.g. a rear engine oil seal or gearbox input oil seal etc?

Any advice welcomed.

Cheers
Andrew

Rear main seals are known to weep oil and it comes down to where the engine and adaptor meet. It usually is not serious but the seal can be changed by dropping the transmission down to get to it. Over filling with oil has been identified as a possible cause.
