Post subject:  another lift question

Newbie here, I have read about everything I can find on lifting my stock 2006 Liberty running 235's. What I don't understand is how do any of the lifts get the front differential up out of the rocks in the middle of the road. I'm sure after the lift if I go to 245 or 255's if possible will help a bit. What am I missing here? Currently there is about 7.5" of clearance. My Wrangler running 31's measures about 10" from the ground to the bottom of the differential. I'm not a hard 4-wheeler but just want to run the dirt roads without dodging every rock.
Thanks, Jeff

Lift and tires will help raise it up for sure. Also if your worried about rocks hitting it I would suggest a skid plate or some form of guard to help protect from big rocks.

Taller tires raise the diff height
to run taller tires you have to install a lift
So what size are you wanting to run?
Plus how much do you want to spend on a lift?
As far as tire size 235 tells us nothing at all
235-70s? 235-75s? 235-85s?

Most run 2.5-3 inches of lift and 245-75-16 tires, overall good size lift plus with that size you'll lose some mileage and power but not too bad. Any larger tire and then you'll need to look into regearing

Also being an 06 I'm sure your's has sagged an inch or so ( had one 06 come in here that was sitting over an inch lower than new stock height :-)r
Never measured the rear but to the skid plate in front I have over 11 inches of clearance

Probably 235/75-16

Lifts on IFS trucks increase the front diff height.
Bigger tires on IFS trucks increase the front and rear diff height.
Lifts on all trucks increase axle/wheel center to body hard parts, allowing for larger tires.

I will break out the measuring tape when I get home, but I am VERY happy with the OME HD and 245/74-16 tires I stuck under the CRD this weekend.

Edit: Hand to change the pic to a fully lifted truck... darn work and blocking photobucket.

Ground to front diff ~11"
Ground to rear diff ~9"

I am at 9" on the rear and 13" on the front with 245/75-16

Have a full set of ASFIRs sitting in the garage, but I didn't get around to bolting them up this past weekend. Maybe after work tomorrow or Wed they will be on.

Just from the front measurements knew neither of you had skids on

in our defense, he was mentioning a number between the ground and the diff... not a skid ;-)

You're right
But ya gotta have skids if you're going out to do any wheeling

Yeah that's why I haven't taken her out yet. Aside from light stuff to fishing spots and gravel. Don't want to cause damage over stupidly running with no armor or anything. Hoping to get the 4xguard front skid and engine/tranny skid in the next few weeks to start. For the time being, I'm just a mall crawler :-(

Sorry about the lack of info when I first posted. On my stock Liberty I'm running 235-70R16. I have been looking at the Frankenlift. Once again, I'm not interested in heavy four-wheeling, I just want to get the front diff out of the rocks. Sounds like from what I read in the other posts I could go 245's in a taller tire and accomplish my goal. That is after I get the lift.
Thanks for the feedback.

245-75-16s are agood overall size
Frankenlift is good or there are also some cheaper alternatives with the same height as well

As an update.

11" to the main portion of the skid.

10.25" to the diff guard portion.
