Hello Guys,

I'm having some weird issues with my KJ as of late.

This happened before and after i swapped the water pump recently.
On hills, 3000rpm+ with A/C on she'll overheat. kill the A/C she'll stop overheating.

Tstat, hoses and radiator are all original, fan works OK, currently at 160k miles.

Should i swap the radiator, tstat and hoses? nothings leaking at the moment, coolant looks good, no signs of oil in the coolant or vice versa.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Flow test the radiator there have been a few cases lately of crud build up blocking core flow. Hope you have been running HOAT

Make sure your fan runs consistently with the a/c on. It might work intermittently and not keep your radiator cool enough.

About year ago i had overheating troubles with my crd on speed about 80 mph: even with heater turned on to max temp i have got 3/4 on dashboard and needed to slow down to decrease the temperature. I dont say about traffic jams - it was impossible to use a/c. Then i removed all of radiators and cleaned them with the karcher.

Now i have dead electric fan (suppliers dont have it in stock and i have to wait) but even without working electric fan i drive 95 mpg with 90 F outside and a/c turned on and my coolant temp sensor shows less than half.
So just try to clean your radiators first

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be an intermittent radiator fan.

So the 1.5 year was passed and i again had troubles with transmission looked like overheating. When i disassembled all radiators and intercooler i sow the same picture - all the central parts of radiators was really very dirty. Mosquitoes and other dirt covers most part of surface. So liqui moly cleaner and karher - and all the troubles is gone. You have to clean it first before to try all other possibilities i think.

I strongly agree. After recently cleaning my rad I've noticed an improvement.
