I have 275k on my 04 jeep liberty sport... today when i put it into drive it wouldnt engage... i put it reverse, wouldnt engage....then i tried 1st and 2nd ..nothing.. when i put it park though it make a buzzing/clicking noise that slowed and stopped. i tried putting in 4wd and the nothing...the 4wd lever felt VERY loose when i pulled it up... THEN i noticed something..it slowly started to engage... i then rapidly pulled the 4wd lever up and down about 5 times and it kicked in...so i put it back into 2wd and it worked... put it in Drive and off i went..... Any ideas what might be wrong? ive never replaced the transmission..i HAVE replaced the trans fluid and filter about 50k miles ago. |

sounds like a T-case issue check the linkage |

Check fluid levels. Tcase making it work could just be coincidence...more likely with the description that trans fluid is low and it had to build pressure. |
