Spray in Carpet Replacement

ok so my carpet is getting old and worn out so i have been kicking around the idea of taring out the carpet and replacing it with a spray on bed liner. has any one done this in a kj? if so pros? cons? what are some issues i may have to deal with? my neighbor just replaced the carpet in his and said there may be some weirs hanging out.

Well under the carpet is a lot of wiring and and a lot of built in wiring channels so it is not going to be easy in anyway.

I have not done this to mine, but I remember reading about others who have. They said that without the carpets you hear more road noise and it also gets a lot colder in there in the winter. Bedliner doesn't insulate as well as carpet does.

I have roll in bedliner in my kj. First yes the wires are under your feet, but it dont take much to move them around. Second the road noise is louder but not too bad, its a jeep. Third make sure you make plugs or get plugs for tthe floor. All I do is hose it down and pop off my plugs....instant clean jeep. Ill post pics in just a min...we just got back from the beach.

Ok so first all the wiring under the driver floor board was moved to under the kick panel areas. Then the same was done to the passenger area. Then the channels were covered with sheet metal. (Just to make them flat, you will see what I mean)

In the back the driver side the wires were covered with sheet metal and heavy duty wire loom where the wire jumps over the "hump" under the rear seats.

Pretty easy really. Tore carpet out at work and the next day rerouted all my wires and sheetmetaled up the floor.

Poped out the factory plugs and little foam things and made plates that cover the big holes in the floor where the factory put the plugs at.

The cargo area literally ripped the carpet out. Lined the back. Cut my capet like a floor mat, its rubber lined backed carpet, and layed it back in.

What about laying down Dynamat first for insulation and sound/road noise, then rolling the liner over the mats?

I want to do this in the cargo area behind the rear seat.

The dynamat should help with the sound, and also heat transfer in the winter keeping the cabin warmer. (In Canada, keeping the cabin warm during winters is very important...)

Lizard skin would probably work better spray it in then spray the bed liner on top it cuts heat transfer down a lot and road noise.

its a jeep and its already loud i just turn up the radio and as far as winter i live in fl. im bying my dads old dodge as a cheep second vehicle i should be getting it in a month or so then i will be able to take the jeep of the road for a few days to do this.

My road noise is more than carpet but the liner that I put in....a whole gallon, according to the wifey helped a lot on road noise.
