I'm about to purchase my first Liberty CRD tomorrow. A local shooting buddy convinced me that his CRD was a solid performer with some SOLID MPG's. This will be a daily driver to relieve my tired 7.3L F250 PowerStroke.

In my F250, I really like having a set of gauges for EGT, Boost, and Trans Temp. But there's really not any space for gauges in this truck.

This is probably a far fetched idea but I was wondering what the interest would be to use the interface of the Parrot ASTEROID Smart to create a digital representation of the values provided by a boost sensor, EGT sensor, and Trans Temp sensor. I'm no expert on Android or these systems but we might have an engineer or two among us who can make this happen.

Here's the head unit:

The app called Torque Pro is $5.

It's successfully connecting with the OBDII port and using bluetooth to transmit data directly to the Parrot HU and create a customizable display.

If only we could get inputs for Boost, EGT's, and Trans Temp. That would be the hurdle.

I had this idea using an almost identical obdII bluetooth devise and an old android phone but I can't get it to display any useful data unfortunately.

Is the bigger hurdle not having a clean way to mount a double-DIN head unit in the KJ? I've not see that done (well) yet without a completely custom center dash bezel.

There are double-din bezels on ebay with the mounting hardware for a double din radio. They are like $100.

The problem with using Torque is that the jeep does not have sensors for EGT from the factory. I dont know how you could integrate an aftermarket EGT probe into the OBD2 and have torque pick it up unless you replaced another temp sensor(like intake air) and added custom scaling within torque specific to the EGT probe. It would be way easier to just have a dedicated EGT gauge

Another alternative is to use mechanic gauges and get a lotek Pilar with 2gauge pods and some aluminum pods from weeks101. It's really not a big deal to install them but time consuming, definitely not as easy as an obd2 all in one gauge.
