Has anyone done this, and if so how well does it hold up? Does anyone have any pictures?

I have a 4x4 Sport and would love to cover the factory grey plastic fenders with a nice rugged black coat of line-x.

That is good to hear.

I'll have to give it a try, will probably do it after I get a new off-road front bumper though. Right now I'm working on basic mods.

His is on the left, very old picture, but you get the idea of what it looks like. Still looks the same and holding up great
Both look funny with little tires and not as much lift

Awesome... if I only had the money to do it now :(

Oh well something to shoot for the end of this year, or next year. Where do you get those sweet front bumpers? I've seen some online for a ton, but want to see if anyone has a "guy" online that has a good price.

Figured if I'm gonna Line-x the fenders, might as well switch out the front bumper too.

The bumper on the left ( on 03CDKJs ) was pretty much a one off, think the guy built 3 or 4 and that was it
Mine of course is or was an ARB after 8 years got rid of it on John 317s now

When these get line-x'd are they still on the vehicle? If that member is still around, how much was it?

Off the vehicle
Check your local dealer, prices may be different in different areas of the country

I figured they had to come off.

http://www.amazon.com/Liberty-Rocker-Panel-Bumper-Fascia/dp/B0040CX3HG/ref=pd_bxgy_auto_text_z

The top link is for just the fender flares, the bottom link it said there's a couple used on the fender, are the rest used to fix the front bumper to the front? Would 1 set of each be enough for removal and reattaching the parts? What about the rear bumper, is it attached with clips or does it bolt on and off? Nevermind, looked at an oem replacement rear bumper on Amazon and it states it is attached by clips.

I'm full of questions. If only my Jeep was outside for me to walk out and look at. >.< I'm actively interested in doing the liner on the trim peices. Looks good and it's protection too.

Hey, I'm going to be jumping into this project in the next few days and was hoping for some guidance. I've got 2 cans of Rustoleum spray on bed liner (the slightly more expensive "Professional grade" version that explicitly says it resists fading, cracking, etc), 2 cans of adhesion promoter, 500-2500 grit sandpaper, and both sets of clips I linked above for reattachment. On to the questions.

1. For removal of the flares it's my understanding that I need to pull the inner liner then dremel off the heads of the existing clips so they will pull right out?

2. I was going to take the flares inside to clean with dawn in the tub and wipe down with "my" towels, aka the towels that are no longer fit to be in view of company. Do I need to use something else instead? Was going to use a green scratchy or equiv to get them cleaned up. Any comments welcome.

3. What grits should I use to sand them fine? Go straight for the 2500? Is it REALLY necessary to sand them? Unsure here since it's not like they're starting out painted, and a green scratchy will rough them up a bit as well.

4. Application of the adhesion promoter. One light coat followed by 1 good coat?

5. How many coats of bed liner would you recommend I do? Was thinking 2.

6. Should I clear coat over it? Satin or Gloss? 1 coat or 2? Unnecessary?

Any other tips/recommendations for a project like this?

I did my badges and door trim with the exact same stuff. Just sanded with 800 i think and wiped with alcohol and taped off and sprayed. I did 4 medium coats with about 30 min inbetween. Pull the tape off as soon as you do the last coat and use a razor blade if it starts to peel and itll be fine. To me, act exactly like plastidip. Didnt use any adhesion promo or fine sanding, just scuffing it up and removing the clear (on the emblems at least). Been on about a month and no problems with peeling or anything. Gonna do my fenders and bumper too, maybe wednesday. Not removing them though, just gonna tape off real good. Let me know how yours goes!

Got mine done today. Took about 3 hours total. Rustoleuom recommends 20-30 minutes between coats so id start in the same place each time and work my way around then set a 20 minute timer. Gave me a total of about 25-28 minutes between. Add in taping time before hand and took about 3 hours with taping sanding and wiping with alcohol. Oh and refreshing the beer. Looks good, just a few tips. Tape off very well, and i carried a piece of cardboard with me because the propellant in these cans is stronger than normal (probably because theres rubber in it) and as soon as you are on your last coat, do a section and un tape it. The spray is still sticky and elastic at this point and will adhere instead of tear. I removed my grill and the "steps" on the rear bumper just to get the spray to the edges. Also did the underside of the flares in the wheel well just for the same reason. If you dont have anyexposed edges its less likely to peel. Let me know what yall think! Cost me total under 100, i know its not as tough as a linex or a rhinoline but its just plastic under, if it scratches just redo it. Not like the plastics gonna rust. Touches up easy too! Image

That looks excellent! Can you get a close up picture of your texture?

I've got the plastic rivets so I was planning on pulling them and spraying them away from the vehicle. Did you leave the rocker panel trim along the bottom untouched? How many cans did you use total for both bumpers and all the flares?

Thanks for the tip on the spray strength!

Sorry it took so long. Heres a close up of the texture. Not crazy, more than just the plastic but enough. Image

That looks real good! thanks for sharing. I don't think I'll get around to this until NEXT weekend now. Get Jeep back on Monday but want to give myself a full sunday-monday to do the work.
