Its been over a week and I must say that hands down this has been the best "performance" modification yet... You have to go to the dealer and have them input the correct revolutions per mile figure into your computer. Once done your truck will "wake the heck up" and act like it did the day you bought it :) ... Acceleration, shift points, Rpm's etc are all so on point. The car just goes... No more clunky down/up shifts... Much more "pep" in the step etc... And with this figure your speedo will only be about 1mph off... I verified this with 2 different speedo apps. When the car says 60 the speedo apps flicker between 59/60... And that's only becAuse the dealer couldn't input the fraction for some reason... So he set my revs per mile from 718 to 657 instead of 657.20... I've been driving with big tires for many moons without having this done... And the difference is night and day!!!

What did this cost you at the dealership?

If I re geared it now... I think It would be a rocket ship lol! But without spending 2k, this is definitely a GREAT bang for the buck. It takes about 5 minutes to do... So if you know your dealer maybe they would prorate it... If not maybe 80 bucks for the hour or whatever it is where you live.

Didn't cost a thing. Dealer mechanic is a friend :)

I think you missed the whole point

So... Because I made a change that yielded great results... Without having to spend close to $2000.00 ... It makes sense to bash the idea? Are you guys saying that there is no change ??? Because I know for a fact I have a totally different feel from the truck.

Notice the word performance is In parenthesis! I know it's not a performance mod... But my truck is "performing" 1000% better...

Of course it would make some difference, BUT the fact remains that to run a 32 inch tall tire you also need to regear. People will read this and think thats all they need to do is do the reset, thats only a part of whats needed . There is no bashing to it, just facts to try to help others

noone's bashing it, maybe giving you a hard time but not bashing it

it does make more of a difference on some models more than others, and even some vehicles versus others, rfe's seem to be more responsive to the change than rle's , and both depending on driving habits have a tendency to want to knock off during hard braking without the correction

if they reset the ecm while doing the correction id lean towards that being your 'boost'
but regardless, glad its driving better, thats all that matters!

any bashing you felt from me was just joking around with a common mechanics joke

I'm sorry I was so easily offended guys. I know I have to regear to truly gain performance... Hell my truck might have already been for all I know lol.. But my butt never lies about my car and its performance :) and I really gotta say it made one heck of a big difference. I have an 02 so I've got the RFE if that matters.. I know what my old truck felt like as well as this one... Both were pigs... Now this little gem of mine is like a sprinting fox :)

It's not really a reset. Just a different revolutions per mile figure that's added to the computer. The mechanic didn't reset the computer at all because I had to go from there to the inspection station... My temporary PA plates and registration were about to expire. If he reset it all the monitors would have been off and I would have failed inspection :)

Everyone so upset and going on about the reset. I just keep focusing on the Jeep being called a truck instead of a Jeep lol

Better than calling it a car... And my old Libby was a truck to me :) the new one is getting there... :)

Pinion factor is programed into the BCM, no changes to your engine or transmission's performance will be seen with the new values. Your friend/dealer may have done a trans "quick learn" giving your truck a new lease on wearing parts. I noticed a performance gain when I had the quick learn done on mine.

and for the record, my dealership's staff called it a "pinion reset" as well... and it was $75.
