Do the bearings tend to go bad in the rear. I towed my buddies 5k lb boat and now I am getting a hum when I make right hand turns. It sounds like its coming from the rear. I am about to do the brakes so it would probably be a good time for the bearings too.

The dealership I used to be a parts/service adviser at we used to go with 75W140 in the rear diff with any SUV or Truck doing any towing. IIRC the max tow on these is 5000 lbs, so a loaded boat and gear may be way overtaxing the Liberty.

Only if its the gasser version. CRD's are rated to tow 5600 IIRC.
