Post subject:  H&R lift installed!

I finally got around to installing the H&R springs and Bilstien shocks that have been sitting in my garage for the last year. I got 1.5" of lift and the ride quality is great, better than stock.

Parts used:
Rear Shocks: Bilstien, Dakota Quad Cab Rear (BE5-A702-HO)
Front Shocks: Bilstein front shocks for Jeep Liberty 2002-2007 and dodge nitro 2007-2011. Part # F4-BE5-D916-HO
H&R Raising Springs (29203-1)
Rear Bumpstops: Boat trailer bumpers from Princess auto. These are only a few dollars each and have a hole in the center. The ones I used are similar to this link http://g03.s.alicdn.com/kf/HT1iZCuFSpaXXagOFbXp/200600922/HT1iZCuFSpaXXagOFbXp.jpg
I also extended the brake line hangers on one side

I have spoken to a lot of other KJ owners that have fitted them over here in Europe and they are all very happy with them. If I had to start all over again with a KJ I would go for them. A lot cheaper the OMU and less hassel with a great result if you are not after a tall lift but very good handling on the road.

If I did all my price checking correctly, did this run you about $600 US?

I am in Canada and the parts I used are readily available without big shipping charges. Also I drive the Jeep daily with lots of highway and city driving. I do light offloading a few times per month. I didn't want to give up any handling. This amount of lift is perfect for my use and the ride quality is awesome. I paid about about $600 Canadian for all the parts which would equate to about $500 Usd. $265Cad for the springs, $205Cad for the rear shocks, I got the new front shocks on ebay for $100 cad +shipping. Bump stops and bolts where only a few dollars at Princess Auto.

How much "real " lift did you get? Measuring from middle of the wheel to bottom of flare in front.
Which Bilsteins did you use, thats awful cheap for the better Bilstiens

I got a deal on the front Bilstiens on ebay ($100 USD so I paid about 1/2 of retail). A guy bought them and sold his liberty before installing them. All the part numbers are in the 1st post if you want to see what I used. Below are prices for everything today. Essex is offering free shipping in Canada right now.

Here is a link to where I bought the springs. Price is up a few buck since I bought. ($285 CAD)

Link to the front shocks ($240 CAD)

Rear Shocks ($186 CAD)

Total Price buying today $712 CAD or about $575 USD.

Well yep about an inch
Wasn't sure heard conflicting numbers on amount of lift for the H&Rs

My rig was 18.5" hub to flair before the lift so my rig gained 2" in the front (20.5"). I went back and measured the rear hub to flair and it's 21" so I have a bit of a rake.

Those are the figure everyone that has fitted H&R coils is getting, not bad same more or less as OMU non HD springs. Also you won't need to change the UCA as the lift isn't that high.

You gained two inches because you were sagged almost an inch , so in reality you gained about an inch
Yes you will have stock rake with new springs installed to be level you'd need to do a clevis lift or top plate

Most CRD, due to the weight of the engine) sit around 18.5 inc from New, when I changed mine at 78K miles i was at 17.5 inc. I see KJ 3.7 here stock still sitting at 19 inc after 100K, then again here they tend to have an easy life.

Post subject:  Re: H&R lift installed!

From what I have read in others forums my 2006 CRD would have had a front hub to fender measurement of no more than 19" when new. If this is correct I have gained 1.5" over new.

The ones I measured here were more in the 19 -19.25 range when newer
Never seen a KJ with 100,000 miles be at stock height, had one here that we were going to lift that at 75,000 was sitting at 17.5 :ROTFL:
235-70-16s were actually rubbing

Tom,

most of the KJ 3.7 over here are mall cruisers so don't get any abuse and live a pampered life :-)r

Why is it when I search the coil part number it returns results that say it lowers by 1.5" - 2"?

Are you talking about OME specs? If so both Ironman and OME are advertised as giving 1.5 inches of lift due to tight insurance regualations in Australia where both companies are. That said we know that OME gives you 2.5 inches of lift and Ironman gives 2.25 on a gasser
NOW, I see you have a CRD so you have a couple of choices when looking at the OMEs, 927s are rated at 400 lb, thats 10 less than new stock CRD coils in front. Then you have the OME 790s whcih are rated at 500 lb.
If doing a CRD lift the OME full kit holds up best it seems using both their shocks and springs

I'm referring to the H&R coil springs in the original post subject H&R Raising Springs (29203-1). A 1.5" lift is about what I'd like to have. The price is much easier to deal with as well. I was about to buy the Ironman until my rockers and cams failed.

How much is their full spring kit? Only think I can find is just springs. Even then they are close to OME or Ironman prices
So where do you find their full kit or they only offer springs, if so not that good of a deal at all

I'm not seeing a kit. 4 coils are 252.00. Bilstein shocks/struts are 98 apiece, making the price about 650.00 shipped. It's not a huge difference (about 240.00), but it does seem a viable alternative if you're only looking for a slight lift.
