Will fit, may have to drill a couple of hole for the rear cross member but they work

added one to my 2002, had to drill and install nut serts on the cross member.
for the front it slipped under the front skid plate.

hi friends of the liberty,

got my skidplate and got some news for the interested parties:

like jeeptorino68 said -> the front side fits perfectly:

Image

but at the rear side it´s to short :x ->

Image

Image

The reason is that there are some different transmisson crossmembers at the KJ through the build years... :|

just an example:

Anyway -> i`ll find a solution... :mrgreen:

bye,
samse

Yep, different transmissions required different shaped transmission crossmembers. The 545 transmission on 2002 3.7L gas/petrol engine is also used on the CRD diesel engines.

i will try to get some pics of mine.
but it is on a 3.7 with 45RFE transmission,
i have the factory front skid, and then added the later model transmission skid.

i cut off one front tab and welded flat bar in place, the other tab lined up with one skid plate hole, the back holes (at the crossmember) lined up with holes in the frame, just added the nutserts

you can see i cut off both front tabs on the skid plate and welded on a couple or 3 inches of 1/8" thick flat bar, one just goes under the front diff skid, the other has a hole and goes under the front diff skid and uses one of those skid bolts. the other 2 lined up

Thx very much for the pics and the possible solution....

At the moment i´m thinking about a t-case skidplate, who is longer at the front end and will take the transmission skidplate....

in the 3rd picture you can see my transfercase skid plate to the right hand side. there is a gap between the two skid plates, but that is on the crossmember, so not a big deal.

dont know if you ever figured it out, but i have my transmission skid off right now, and it seems like a lot of people ask about how to add this, so here are some pictures.
https://goo.gl/photos/RUrHQ2uS7V8Bm9tC9

this is a factory MOPAR skid for 2005+jeep liberty that i fit to my 2002.
cut off the front mounting tabs and welded on some flat bar instead.
see pictures, its very easy
