Im ordering a heap of parts from a yank dealer. I asked for the fan belt and any associated idler pulleys. One of them was $138 ish fust for the fan bracket? is there a bearing there that can be replaced or do i just order the fan bracket?

if it's a diesel question - it'll get more views on CRD...Love that torque

although this sounds like the serpentine belt

Yes - several folks have found ways to swap the bearing ~$10 vs the $50 pulley's

not sure what part you're referencing as the bracket

- mechanical fan doesn't really have one

- electrical does - but not something you have to mess with

I think he is talking about the whole pulley assembly for the mechanical fan, which is the heavy iron bracket with pulley bolted in the center of the timing cover.

Unfortunately I have no idea what I'm talking about. I've never had to replace any bearings related to the fan. It's a clutch fan if that's any help. Mines only done 80,000 klms. (50ish thou miles??)

In that case I wouldn't worry about it unless the bearing is actually bad.
You may want a new fan clutch however.
