Hello LOST members,
I, just picked up a rusty spacer lift on ebay brand new in the box for 45.00. How would you rate this lift? Will I, need anything else for my 06 liberty that doesn't come with the kit. See where some people where talking about brake line extensions. Any help with this would be grately appreciated. Being new to LOST I, have noticed a lot of knowledgeable people on here when it comes to talking about Liberty's I'm a little concerned about this rusty lift from some of the mixed opionions I, have read on here about their products. Thanks again for any help with this matter.

Exactly what came with your lift kit?

I bought a used spacer lift for my 04 Liberty Sport and was told it was a Rusty's Offroad lift kit. It came with new coil spacers and shocks for the rear and strut spacers for the top of the stock front shock struts.

It didn't come with extended bumpstops. Opinions vary as to whether or not you need them but from my experience I recommend buying a pair.

I was able to easily install the rear spacer easily but I didn't have the tools to do the front. I took my Libby to a garage to have them put it on. And no, I didn't need brake extensions.

I've think that a spacer lift like the Rusty's Offroad lift kit will give you about 2.5" of lift while a proper Frankenlift will give you 3" of lift on a gas vehicle.

First a big welcome to LOST, the best dang Forum for KJ/KK ...well any Jeep owner!!!!!!

Now with that said , Rustys spacer lifts are pretty much the least favorite lift to get for a number of reasons.
But since you have it it may work for a while. Any spacer type lift puts more stress on your suspension than does a full spring lift. Also if your KJ has more than 35,000 miles then the springs and shocks are already starting to sag. This type of lift will only magnify that and sooner or later you will need to replace the springs and shocks anyways.
Some run them for a while but with in a short time most end up redoing their to a full spring lift and even then most generally not even a Rustys full spring.

Best thing to do is read through the various posts about lifting the KJ and make up your mind from there. Lifting one can improve the ride and handeling if done right or can make you hate to even drive it.

Good luck and again WELCOME

What he said.

It's not a good style of lift to use. But also like Tom said, it can get you by for a year or so. After that, it will be making so many loud banging and clunking noises that, like Tom said, you won't even want to drive it.

Do it right the first time, get a Frankenlift (preferably with new rear springs, too) or Daystar lift, install it correctly and have it fully aligned soon after doing the lift. Any other way will result in you regretting it.

I mean for $45, throw it on there! And then get the other stuff... Tires, wheels, skids, tow hooks. And then after a while, once you feel the need to upgrade, go all out and get a full suspension lift.

Also, on an 06' you will need rear brake line extensions. They are both on the drivers side. On is obvious, and the other on is tucked up behind the inner fender towards the front. Most people make their own, but you can go to (http://www.boulderbars.com/frankenlift.htm and order them. Half way down on the right side.

Hello LOST Members..
It's hard to believe I made this post 6 years ago when we bought our GAS 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport. This vehicle turned out to be my wife's ride so no modifications were ever made. The Rusty lift I got so cheap was flipped for a profit and never installed. So NOW my wife gets a new ride an I get the hand me down Liberty. Still not bad though for a 2006 with less than 100K on it.

Well with me being LOST for 6 years on this forum  I have this opportunity to ask the experts which way to go when lifting the Liberty since things have changed quite a bit from spacer lifts. I've heard a little about jeepinbyal and viewed their website. I would like a lift that I don't have to cut down the CV axles. I heard and seen pics of a 2.5 and 3.5 lift, any input would be great. Tire sizes, gear modifications, power lost. "The perfect set up", Most bang for your buck. Springs.. Is it best to just go with HD front springs if you don't know what your plans are for the future? Clevis spacers? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. :JEEPIN:

So still has Old Man Emu. 2.5" lift
Ironman lift. 2.25" lift
JBA coilovers. 2.5", 4", 6"

OME and Ironman, extras can be easly added for up to 3.75" lift

CVs dont need to be cut until you lift 4+"

245/75r16 atleast 2.5" lift 3.73 gears are fine, 4.10s better

265/75r16 atleast 3.75" lift 4.10s gears, 4.56s better

I am a fan of springs :)

Go with 3.5" and you won't believe it's a libby after you see the room under her belly.

It's almost like a magic trick, especially if your front springs are sagged.

There is no shame in driving a lifted libby!!! These things are like mountain goats.

I like the handling, especially when towing with a OME spring lift, but if I did it again I'd go with the adjustable coilovers since everyone raves about how amazing their Jeep rides with them

I have the Teraflex lift which is the same style as Rusty's (from the sounds of it). Its been on there 3 years/35,000km on stock springs and shocks. Can't complain.

I did find I couldn't adjust the camber enough after the lift, but aftermarket upper control arms got it back into alignment range.
