First post so be gentle with me Engine management light came on, had it coded and light removed and it was the EGR stuck open but it sorted itself out. I have seen numerous posts on various sites about bypassing the EGR but I am not sure that on my model whether it will affect the engine management light. Its a UK spec 2004 2.5 KJ with the simple EGR valve on the left engine side looking from the front just under the expansion tank area, its got a single vacuum pipe running to it. Most posts and techies I have spoken to have said either just plug the vac pipe and then put it back on or place a metal blanking gasket between the EGR valve and the outlet pipe to the inlet manifold, yet other posts have said to blank off both the vac pipes on the valve between the airbox and the expansion tank that has a filter under it. The question is which is correct and will either of these options throw a warning light thanks bob sheffield england |

Because you have the older style CRD you can disable the EGR by pulling the vacuum hose off the actuator/EGR and block the hose barb and re-fit the hose. Your EGR system is completely different to what most guys here are familiar with. This is the simplest way and will not trigger the CEL, or remove it and cap the exhaust manifold and inlet manifold elbow. Not sure if the weeks elbow will fit the earlier CRD. |

thanks for the reply there seems to be so much info but it doesn't seem to relate to my setup on the early 2.5 KJ. Out of interest if the less complex EGR on my early KJ wont throw a light up by blocking the vac pipe do you know why it did it when the EGR stuck open briefly and stalled the engine. bob |

it probably gave a CEL for a under turbo boost because of the EGR valve being stuck open. Reading the fault code should give you the reason for the CEL. |
