I recently sold my Polaris ranger crew mud machine and I am looking into buying and modifying a kj or my 08 kk into essentially a side by side. Ian looking at putting 34.5" tall outlaw tires or black mambas on it with a 2" lift and a lot of cutting! I want to cut the roof off, put a rollcage on it , remove the doors and build a set out of roll cage tubing and remove anything possible to save weight. The reason for this is utv's are not very strong the diff a and axles are never up to the task! Has anybody ever built anything like this?

Nope. The KK/KJ is a unibody. Be alot of work. Sounds like you want a buggy. Buy a buggy

This sounds like the single greatest idea I have ever seen on this forum. Get out he Sawzall and let me know how it turns out! I do like your choice in vehicles since the KJ is known for having a very strong front diff and CVs.

I honestly wanna see this happen. Now that I think about it, it would be bad to have a Low CG, Big tires, KK buggy.

I say do it.

This is a very serious post.i have 15. Lengths of1.75" tubing at the house already. These jeeps are cheap to buy with high miles and I believe I could build a much better machine for a lot cheaper ten building a sxs. As for the buggy comment, that is what I would like to have but I like the thought of having heat and ac. My little guy is only two and he was devastated when I sold the ranger. we still go out on the renegade quad but it is not the same! And that ranger was broken after every ride so it had to go!!! Well I'm on the search now I have found a few for around 800-1500$ hopefully I can go look at them soon. I also have a 08 liberty limited that is used as a winter beater, but I may just use it as I don't use it at all any more but it's to nice to cut up I think

You want heat and AC, but you also want to remove the doors and cut off the roof?
That makes no sense.

I think that turning a liberty into buggy (Luggy?) would be a neat project but as soon as you cut the roof off may as well just ditch the AC too.

I must interject here!

Being a licensed atv (not utv) safety instructor I have to remind you that atv tires are designed for 5 psi max. We normally run 3.5 psi on our tires in the army.

That being said, you could tube them, maybe.

I have also thought about lifting my sun fire and putting utv tires in it..

I am all for you trying it tho :). I didn't read the whole thread because the psi thing popped into my head when I saw the topic line.
