I just sold quite a bit of .22LR ammo (6,000 CCI) so I could drop some money down on a throttle body spacer and a custom program from B&G performance. I did some rummaging through old posts and had found that you can use a 4.7L V8 throttle body on a KJ. Here's the question, could I use the 4.7L throttle body and toss a throttle spacer on that? What are the pro's and con's? Oh and I have the 06 3.7L auto |

Throttle body spacer does nothing on newer cars/ Jeeps etc, they worked when you had gas and air mixing together at point of entry. As far as the larger throttle body goes, tried one, maybe a very small difference but I'd never waste the money to buy one personally. I was sent one to try and its still on the 04 The custom tune will help a lot and I'd ask them if a larger would help any with the custom tune |

my discussion on the topic: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=80036 it didnt work on my 02. the 02 through 04 i think has a smaller diameter intake tube. i think this will work fine on 04+models they share the same bolt pattern and intake tube size as the 4.7 i believe. |

Hey guys, I ask because well one I've got the cash. And I have a good deal on a new air raid tbs and a 4.7l throttle body for $150 locally. I'm going to check with b&g to see if they can be worked into the "formula" Honestly even if the throttle body spacer and the 4.7l were to give me only 1-2 horsepower I'd still get them. Other than custom headers I'll have done all the performance stuff available. |

Please keep this updated when you get the tune. I wonder if it's any better than the Hypertech tune I have installed. |

Like mentioned save your money on the throttle body spacer, thats old school for carb engines not modern day ones The B&G tune will help some , much better than one of the plug in tuners that do little to the KJs. For cutom headers to do anything you'd also have to change out the cams etc to take advantage of them |

Hypertech did a really good job with the tune. Mine has been tuned for 40K miles. I've read a little about the tune you're seeking, but I couldn't find much information about their tuning specifics. |

B&G's tune is vehicle specific down to the amount of weight you've added, gearing, engine mods and an incredibly thorough set of options for extremely specific engine mods. The list goes on and on. Once I do the 4.7L throttle body I'll be sure to get the B&G on the way. Ordering in a week or so. |

Nice. I see they've updated their website recently. I may call them in the future depending on the price. The 4.7L throttle body is a nice mod. I've been running one for a little while now. |

Not sure what you mean, but if you want to know my mods they're in my signature. My throttle body is off a 2008 Grand Cherokee. |

4.7L throttle body, bigger silicone adapter that runs from the throttle body to the K&N cold air intake. |

Alright, I've read the entire 14 pages of the link you've posted, Gager. Just ordered a 2012 Dodge Ram 4.7L assembly. Should be here by the end of the month. Contacting B&G sales shortly. |

Awesome. Keep us updated. Are you sending your PCM in or requesting a handheld? |

The tune will do you way more good than the throttle body will If I was to do it, I'd forget the throttle body and just get the tune ( unless of course I was adding headers/ different cams etc then more air in would be an advantage |

Gager, I'm going to go with a handheld. I love having options, a towing mode will be nice for when my World War Two era Willys trailer is done. Tom, I'm doing everything I can within reason to get ponies back. Even after the regear to 4.10's didn't really help much. I'm still using overdrive to go up hills cause it's constantly searching for gears. The Dodge 1500 throttle assembly was only $80 shipped. eBay has plenty of good deals! |
