Good Morning All,

We all love a good electrical problem, so here is one for you.

For the pas couple of days my front windscreen wipers won't stop working. I have turned them off and on but they still keep going!! If I move the switch to full power they go faster and if I turn them off they just keep going, any idea what is wrong and what I need to change?

I need this fixed asap as I am going for my annual inspection in the next couple of days and that is going to be classified as a fail.

Thank you,

Fil.

The mosfet may be overheating due to age. Have you tried resetting the ecu yet?

Could be that the wiper stalk/switch is dying. You can find them used on fleabay for not too much (~$80 Cdn here +/-). I just replaced the whole thing (two stalks and a box in between) in about 10 minutes.

2 torx screws under the column, pop the top plastic cover, unplug the connectors (one on the back of each side), wiggle it out upwards.

Good luck.

Thank you.

You might just have a bad wiper motor. Some american (GM) wiper delays are built into the motor itself. It only receives an electric pulse to start each intermittent wipe. If the motors mechanism goes bad it doesn't return to park to wait for the next pulse.

So the problem has started up again. I have check the stalk switches by swapping them out to see if that was the cause of the issue but the problem persist.

What could it be please? for six month it all work perfectly, now for the last 3 days my wiper are on all the time!!!

Quick up date:
1) it's not stalk indicator as I swapped it out with another one that is new
2) relay are all good, swapped them around and added a new one just for good measure
3) swapped out wind screed wiper engine and it still plays up

Okay so some where I must have a bad earth!! any one know? Ideas how to track it down?

It did stop for a couple of days, then took the KJ to be washed and it all started up again...

Help please...

So not much progress has happened, still with the same problem. For now we have by passed it with a switch until my garage can book me in. Obviously, this isn't a solution and I can't be the only KJ in the world that has had this problem, so please where do we look next before they start taring the Jeep to find the problem.

Thank you

Fil.

Thank you, I can now see the photo.
Just to confirm I have taken a photo of my engine bay and of what I think might be what you are referring too:

And the I think you mean this is the grounding point if I am not wrong!? They look fine to me but how can I check?

Just make sure the grounds are clean (no corrosion / good connection) and bolt is good and tight...
