has anyone had the light for the automatic transmission shifter burn out? has anyone tried to replace it? I tried but cannot find the correct size bulb. I've taken the old one to several auto parts stores and Bulbs+batteries, no luck. It is a wedge type base that is .030" smaller than the standard bases you can get in the stores, i.e 37, 73, 74....

I have an 05 Liberty. The Mopar part number is MS820083. Normally at the dealer it should only be a couple of bucks for the bulb if they have it. Otherwise to order it online it can be 10-12 bucks with s&h.

When it arrives put it in a safe place otherwise it might get thrown out, like my wife did. Apparently it looked just like an empty envelope to her.

Thanks, I'll check that out. But since we have such a bad Jeep dealer in our area, I also did some research and believe it is an E74, (or E73 or E37) European wedge sub-miniature base bulb. I'm going to see if I can order an E37 online. AutoZone and Bulbs+Batteries did not stock it. In fact, AutoZone doesn't even have 'E' bulbs in their database.

If it's the same as the one in my 08 KK, this might help:

Thanks. I found an E37 bulb online and ordered one. Just 48 cents plus $3.20 shipping. I will post if it works

The E37 bulb is an exact fit and brightness:) Total cost was $3.68 and it arrived by USPS First-Class Mail in a couple days. I ordered it from Bulbtown.com and it shipped from Jacksonville, FL

my first post on forum goes here.

what we need for shifter bulb is T4.6 (4.6 mm) type 1.2 or 2 watt bulb. i bought LED replacements, which is T5 with 3020 led chips. it works but i did not like the blue color and put the incandescent bulb back for now.

Did you find the lamp on the Internet in any store or on a certain website?

If you have an authorized dealer an E74, (or E73 or E37) European wedge sub-miniature base bulb could not be installed in your car. Check if similar bulbs are available. The E37 bulb can be ordered from the same place I bought the bulbs for the house, the seller amazon led light bulbs offers, ask him. The total cost was $7.23 for my bulbs, but I ordered for the whole house and some extra for the car. They were enough for more than all the street lights and the whole house. So I think you will save money even if you just buy them in small quantities.
