Transfer Case Leak?

Post subject:  Transfer Case Leak?
I'm rebuilding my transfer case (selectrac), and I thought I'd fill it with fluid before I put it back in the jeep. After I poured fluid in the fill hole, I left for a moment, and noticed the ATF fluid had leaked out of the input (where the transmission connects to the transfer case). I've never played with a transfer case before, so.... Is this normal? Meaning should I wait to put the fluid in AFTER I've installed it? :oops:

I contacted Novak Adapters. I hate it when I already know the answer, but don't like it! :( I'm going to have to replace the input seal.

It's not too bad of a job to replace those seals. There's one just like the tc seal on the trans that I would suggest doing while they're apart. Gently hammer the seal in with something about the same circumference of the seal. Took seal to homedepot and found a chain link fence connector piece to hammer it in with. Ended up just tapping each side of the seals in and working around it. Be careful when mating to back to transfer as the shafts could damage the seal if you not go straight in. Also put some kinda grease around where seal meets shafts for the initial movement by the engine. And maybe think about new nuts that join tc to transfer. if yours are as chewed up as mine were
