As the title states I need help with a vibration/shaking I'm getting around 100kmh. I have a 2004 liberty Rocky Mountain edition 3.7l 5speed manual trans part time 4hi/lo.. I just bought it not long ago and when I did I didn't notice the vibration. When on the highway at 95kmh-100kmh I'm getting a not too strong but noticeable enough to annoy vibration/shaking feeling in the what I think to be the driveline, can't feel it in the steeringwheel at all really, I've tried multiple tires , rotated the rims with no change. Replaced rear u joints and had shaft balanced , replaced transmission crossmemeber mount , have changed every fluid possible , new spark plugs, air filter etc. tires have been road forced also with no improvement. I'm leaning towards my front driveshaft but no boots are torn or missing on the cvs If anyone can help me out that'd be awesome. Thanks guys ! Stay wheelin

Simple; remove the front driveshaft and drive it and see if vibration is gone! If so you have identified the problem. You can drive it without the front drive shaft as long as you wish; obviously you will not have 4x4 while it is removed. I drove mine for a couple of weeks with the front drive shaft removed while I was waiting for a new rear CV replacement joint kit to arrive... If the vibration is still there with the front driveshaft removed, I would start looking at the front drive axles/CV joints based on what you have already done... |

Sorry if this is a dumb question how do I inspect my front axles ? I noticed when i grabbed it close to the outter cv I could move it side to side a bit but both sides had the same movement so I thought nothing of it. I actually took the shaft out and tried it without it but that before I replaced my torn trans mount so maybe I should try it again. Appreciate the response buddy ! |

Basicly like you said, grab the axle and check for any excess movement within each of the four joints. The axle will have some movement from end to end and this is normal, but should not have hardly any up and down or side to side lateral movement. Also check for any busted or cracked boots, leaking grease, etc... as that can be a sign of a bad joint... If a CV joint is bad enough to cause vibration at road speed, it should not be to hard to find the bad joint..... Still temporary removing the front driveshaft is still a good simple test to eliminate it's joints as the problem.... |

Ok well shaft out vibration still there but not quite as bad .... Let says it is my front axle/axles, wouldn't I feel the vibration as heavily in the steering wheel as I do in my seat/arm rest ? There's almost no vibration in the wheel just in the floor and seats. Really Hope it's not a issue with my transfercase , don't really have a lot of funds and what I do have was supposed to be for my lift |

Bump ... Still can't figure this out. It's not the front shaft, rear shaft or tires. What else can cause vib at highspeed ? It doesn't start till 90kmh and goes away after 110 |

Before I rip my cvs out and replace them along with the half shaft on passenger side can someone tell me if I would feel the vibration/shaking in the floor and seats if they are the culpurate ?? I would have thought that since my steering is attached the wheels I would be getting just as strong of shaking in the wheel ? |
