New brake hoses, calipers, rotors, pads & master cylinder have been installed. New Master cylinder was bench bled and installed. System has been pressure bled multiple times ( over 10 ). No air bubbles coming out of lines at all. I still do not have a firm pedal. I have brakes but if I keep pressure on them the peddle gets pretty close to the floor.

What am I missing?

Did you go with stock hoses? I hear that replacing the rubber hoses with steel braided will make the brakes feel firmer.

Sounds like your master is bypassing fluid back to the reservoir

Yes sir

I bought some plugs for the ports this evening, im going to check the master cylinder in the morning to see if it might be a bad one.

On one hand Im hoping thats it because otherwise Ill be feeling pretty incompetent. And on the other hand im hoping it isnt so I dont have to replace it again with possibly the same results.

Could not adjusting the power booster plunger cause this?

Wrong plugs, so.... Bench bled the MC again, bled the whole system again. Pedals a little better but still soft. I still dont have a clue whats wrong.

May have found something. Small amount of paint bubbling underneath where the hose connects to the caliper. Cant see any fluid but still possibly a small leak. Snugged up the connection and will bleed the system again in the morning.

And the conclusion, rotten luck sums up most of it. 1st replacement master cylinder (bad) as mentioned above it was bypassing fluid internally. 2nd one had a bad fluid level switch. And number 3 is working.

Thanks for the help

Bad parts???? twice????

You need to find a better auto supply store, unless you're buying your parts from a wrecking yard. That would explain a lot.

No junk yard parts! The first thing I said was NEW! As far as the auto parts stores, well from what ive seen the master cylinders are all made at the same plant in china and then distributed. Except maybe Mopar I dont know about them.

Ran into that yesterday at work with a bad master cylinder,4 brand new ones with bad level sensors in a row,2 from the same place and the other 2 from different parts stores.Had to special order a OEM master. The whole issue was the level sensor that I was trying to fix also.

I put in a new master in my KJ(nothing wrong with the old, just wanted to) and got a MOPAR one,was cheaper then the aftermarket versions.

The cheapest Mopar I could find was around $200 online, local auto parts were $99. I was trying to get it fixed asap so I went the parts store route. I should have bit the bullet and waited on a mopar one to be delivered. Heck I ended up with $60 worth of brake fluid by the time i was done bleeding the original and 3 replacements multiple times.

It also helped to let the pressure bleeder sit for awhile after pouring fluid in it and pressurizing it, just to let those millions of microscopic air bubbles settle out.
