Quick question. I am waiting for a slight better weather to install my lift but I am getting a constant humming sound from the front end. No vibration but a constant sound above lets say 35 mph. I read somewhere in a post that it could be the wheel bearings close to failing. This humming is happening weather I put summer/ winter tires or inflate/deflate the tires a bit. If it's the bearings, what brand would you suggest. Prices vary so much from 70-90$ to over 200$. Looking for good stuff at the lowest price possible. I know the more we pay, he better quality (most of the time) but at one point, no need to pay more for the difference. Thx for any suggestions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

SKF or Timken are the only 2 I would ever recommend,from a 20 year ASE Master Tech. |

Im getting the same noise and condition. I just replaced my bearings but I'm still experiencing the same noise. I bought timkens from rock auto for about 120 ea. The install went really smoothly and the only problem was finding a 35mm deep socket for the axle. Turned out oreilly had it for $17  thats one expensive socket! I was sure the noise was gonna be bearings but now im completely lost.. cv's maybe?

I've got sockets in my toolbox at work that cost 3-5 times that each and are much smaller than 35mm.My most expensive socket is a spindle nut socket that was $165 and is for 1 aplication only but I tell you what when you gte that 1 vehicle in that $165 socket seems pretty cheap when you can take off that nut in 30 seconds instead of taking 2 hours the "otherway". |

he he he he and if he replaces the cv's it'll be another 17 bucks for a 36MM socket since the new nuts are 36 rather than 35's |

36mm nut makes it have more Horse torque poundage lol other than that was what was available in quantity when the reman planning was done i have no idea the nuts aren't supposed to be used more than once *supposed ta be* ive not personally seen them decide to loosen up after a second use but.. i guarantee they have, somewhere to somebody, otherwise, they would not waste putting legit lock nuts on them in the first place, they'ed just be regular ol dinky hex nuts with caged washers and.. i wouldn't want to be the one who said ohhh yahhh mate itll be a'rite and then their **** went for a walk. lol know what i mean? |

and yea tools are expensive, the impact gun i used to take wheels off OTR trucks and trailers 1" drive impact gun was about a grand and it was refurbed, i think new that model was around 1400. but on average they ranged from say 600 to 1000ish but it was a dang good one, i lost 3 or 4 fillings in my teeth to that stupid thing but it beat the heck out of a 7 foot ratchet bar that you operated with your feet by standing on it and bouncing heh |

Had to have a mobile crane to change anything!!!! Try torquing the u-bolts on the leaf packs on a Marine Corps LVS,takes 6 people and a special 1" drive torque wrench that is 12' long. |
