Plumb it in series with your rear brakes.

Use the handbrake microswitch in series to earth.

put a switch in series to power so you can turn it off when not needed.

Just remember you have to hit the regular brake pedal to activate hydraulic pressure.

The hand brake and the foot brake are completely independent. Its worth checking the condition of the hand brake shoes first. They have adjusters inside the hand brake drum that may need adjusting. The lever will take up some slack on the cable, reversing and pulling up on the lever may adjust the slack. I have owned several of these jeeps and all have had this issue. One day I will get round to modifying the lever to a more common design with a manual cable adjuster.

just an FYI on the handbrake...it DOES not SELF ADJUST like they used to........the pawl gear for the parking brake adjuster is NOWHERE NEAR where the handbrake parts enter the parking drum .

oh sure the parking brake handle goes clik click lcik, but dont be fooled that its adjusting.....

I adjust the parking brake manually... at the rear wheels. Usually at the same tire I'm switching from summer to winter tires (and vice-versa).

10-4 on that (manual adjustment).

pain in the azz compared to a proper handbrake that self adjusts every time you pull the parking break lever.

I plan to install a driveshaft disc parking brake and get rid of the horrendous internal parking brake.
