Post subject:  Tires making a"wompwomp sound" wth!!!

So my LF tire is making a wompwompwomp sound while driving when the rubber meets the pavement I hear it. its on all speeds and loud as heck. thinking it would be out of balance I ended up re-balancing and rotating my tires. now its in the RL it followed! its quieter only because it is in the rear.
I do not see any signs of a damaged belt or cupping either. the treading is leveled. its not a bearing because it followed the tire so it is the tire itself. any idea what it could be? I have a 2.5" life with 31X10.5 15s. seriously that sound bothers me. if anyone can spit ideas out thatll be great! BTW, I am new to libertys but I can fix everything, I just need to know what the problem is first. thanks!!! :banghead:

Either the tire is bad or it somehow became worn unevenly. (Wheel alighnment?)
Now that youve moved it to the rear it might now eventually wear down evenly.
But if the noise bothers you that much, move it to the spare.

This is why frequent roations are reccomended and always rotate the spare.

It's not uncommon for tires to develop flat spots, especially larger truck tires if not properly inflated and or regularly balanced and rotated. There's really no solution besides replacing the tire when it gets to that point. We've all seen that vehicle go by on the highway with a hopping tire. Many times the driver doesn't even know it's happening. Just have someone drive next to you on the highway and take a look at the tire while underway. It's normally pretty easy to see.

Could possibly be tread or ply separation as well. Radial tires repaired incorrectly, plug instead of radial patch, as well as a defective or low quality tire can result in either of those situations.

More than likely the tire is separating between the plies internally and you say you do not see any knots or bulges on the outside of the tire. You need to take it to a tire store and let them break it down and look on the inside of the tire. If the tire is separating internally, it is not safe to continue driving on it as it is just a matter of time before it will self destruct (come apart, blowout, etc...)

Also check your front driveshaft. The t-case end boot likes to crack and spit all the grease out.

Take it to a shop that does road force balancing , they can detect problems that doesn't show up on a regular balancer .
