We were nearly stopped yesterday and an oncoming volvo station wagon plowed "into" us (also relatively low speed, and more of a side-swipe). He scraped a bit of paint onto the front driver side bumper corner and then made serious contact with our wheel (which was completely turned to the right trying to avoid, but we were up against a hedge). Tore the fender clean off (actually, just popped it off - the clips are still intact!). [My husband's thumb was broken by the steering wheel.]
His axle broke. My a-frame broke (i think that's what it's called - it attaches the wheel to the rest of the vehicle). It seems pretty certain that the insurance company will call it a total loss and write it off. It's a CRD, so I've spent a lot of money in the last year fixing it up for a long life (timing belt, water pump, heavy duty fan clutch, ARP studs, rockers, Weeks 1&2). And it seems very fixable from what we can see (not by me, but by someone who knows how to fix these things).
Any suggestions? Either in general, or even a specific place in the SF Bay Area (preferably Peninsula) that would be super solid for providing me an estimate and doing the work?
