Underhood fuse box,one of the big relays.Without it your KJ will not start as that is the main conduit for the PCM to start and run the engine.
^ what he says. The function of the ASD is to prevent fires in the event of a crash. If the PCM detects there is fuel pressure for 1.8 seconds without the engine running, it triggers the ASD circuit, shutting down injectors, fuel pump, and ignition. If the relay is bad, you will get the same results.
Likewise, if you turn the key on and hear the pump prime, leave the key on, and don't try to start it within about 2 seconds, it will trigger the ASD as well. Right. It won't run. The ASD relay is a standard 5-pole relay, it's the same relay as used for the blower (heater and AC) motor. Swap them out and see if it changes anything. If so, then go get a new one for about $10. If it doesn't, you've eliminated one more thing.
