The best guide with pictures that I know of is on Sasquatch Parts site.
To access it you need to create an account and be logged in.
It's actually the directions for removal of EGR and installation of the weeks elbow, but you can follow it only as far as you find necessary for what you want.

The engine will actually burn the fuel more completely, and the environment greatly prefers CO2 versus free atmospheric carbon particulate soot.
It's no better for us to breathe than it is for your engine.

IF your concern is passing smog "sniffer" test, truth is it will pass more easily with the great lowering of hydrocarbon emissions.
IF your concern is passing smog "visible" test, do as I did. Order the weeks 1 kit in Black. Use Ultra Black RTV when sealing the intake manifold adapter to the manifold. Use either the stock CAC-to-Intake hose, or a black silicone hose (IDParts / Samco / Mishimoto). Once fully assembled again, the battery, dipstick tube, wiring loom, and alternator put everything changed in shadow from above, and the starter and front prop shaft conceal any changes from below. Everything looks completely stock, except the Sasquatch battery tray.
Edit 3:
IF it's a problem of economics that's stopping you, make a block off device per instructions of WWDiesel, and remove the flapper plate from inside the FCV. Not the ideal solution, but it works.
