are there clips that hold the axles in or do they just slip out? does the bearing stay in the housing or is it pressed on the axle? |

The 8.25 is a C-clip axle so yes the cover must come off. The bearings and seals stay in the axle tube. |

In that case it should be possible to pull the axle and remove the brake backing plate. |

thank you, my backing plates have rusted thru and are loose or the rivets have broken. haven't got that deep into it yet.. |
