I'm working a bit backwards on this as I wasn't expecting any problems, but true to form, this Liberty isn't making things easy.

The grease boot on the left lower ball joint split and even though there was no noticeable movement, play, or noises, I decided to replace both sides anyway.

Detroit Axle had some greaseable ones for a good price on Ebay, so I got a pair.

Today I finally got around to this repair while waiting on some other parts. When I took them out of their sealed packaging, I noticed there was a difference from what their picture showed, and also a difference from the ones I'm replacing.
First was the difference in the crown height.
Second was the grease fitting location was dead center in the top rather than in the side as their picture showed.

Rather than stopping here as a reasonable person would, I just checked the part number to make sure they had sent the correct ones. X80767

I just figured it was a different design. I mean, Detroit Axle has been a well known brand with a good reputation for decades. Surely they wouldn't be selling something specifically for '05-'07 Liberties if they didn't work.

Naaa Not so much!. Even taking the zerk out of the crown, it still binds so hard against the outer CV Boot Clamp, that the axle won't even go in.

If the product they sent were like the picture they showed in their advertisement, it would probably work, but they sent something different, with the expected part number, and it doesn't fit.
