i remove my rear diff cover every 30,000KM's and drain and inspect and refill with Redline synthetic 80W140 diff oil and LSD additive. ITS A ROYAL PAIN NOT HAVING A DRAIN PLUG.........

so i dropped $500 CDN on a ARB 1/2" thick nodular iron diff cover , new REDLINE synthetic 80W140 diff oil x 4 liters, and a tube of LSD additive.

gears in excellent shape. bit of foam from LSD additive

This one is a bit more economical.

Is it best?
I thought draining completely is better than having a bit of fluid and gunk still left...

And that will be the last time you ever check out those gears and rinse away the crusties. :D

There is a reason they don't put drain plugs in these from the factory. That said, I've got a similar unit on my pickup. I figure regular fluid changes on schedule are better than delaying doing anything....

Those are both very nice looking differential covers!

Here is another nice metal one that has both fill & drain plugs and is about 1/2 the price of the ARB:

Does the ARB require more oil than the stock cover? Stock requires just over 2 litres.

No,you need to refill to factory specs(some covers do allow a bit more). You do not want to overfill otherwise you will start blowing seals.
