Hi guys. My 05 KJ has a drone road noise to it. It's happened since I got it used from my uncle is November. Got new tires last weekend the noise is still there. Crawled under it this afternoon and started poking at stuff. The passenger front Axle Shaft is wobbly. https://youtu.be/EXOVlUMY2Ec

Asked a local mechanic and the local Jeep group and they both said that the whole front diff needs to be replaced, but I've seen tons of people with KJs saying that it's just the Intermediate/inner axle shaft.

Looking for advice on this and tips on how to pull/replace it. Thanks! Excited to have my first Jeep.

Ours was the same.

Changed the intermediate shaft, CV shaft (spline worn out), and outer diff bearings + seals both sides. Good as new.

The stock bearings are plastic bushings. New Spicer parts are a needle bearing.

You can drive the Jeep just fine with the front diff removed.

I'm in the first stages of getting the crd running again, but while under it today, out of instinct, grabbed my cv shafts too.. same wiggle. maybe 1/8 to 3/16's slop, both sides.
So is that the 'go to fix' the needle bearing vs. the original plastic?

Anyone have a part number for these magical needle bearings referred to here? I just had the entire front diff rebuilt and outer "bearings" (plastic) replaced but my passenger CV still wiggles quite a bit. I have a pretty odd out-of-balance feeling at highway speeds in the front end so I'm trying to eliminate all options...and money from my bank account.

Bearing is Spicer 566131

Seal is Spicer 50608

I was ordering omix-ada parts... parts ended up to be Spicer parts with omix-ada stickers on the box.

Will these work on the 09 Libertys?
